Children are mixing materials as part of our building project
The children learn through play using the Early Years Foundation Stage as a tool to ensure a broad and balanced child centred curriculum. The curriculum for children from birth to five is dictated by them as we continue to develop a culture of listening tochildren. It is carefully planned around children’s own interests, thoughts and ideas. There are many experiences and opportunities for the children within the setting and they have freedom to choose their own activities to support them in becoming independent and autonomous learners.
We recognise the importance of the parental role and seek to work very closely in partnership with parents. At Greenfields the children thrive within a warm, caring and holistic environment.
Staff are highly trained and are observing and listening to the children at all times. These observations are then used to plan relevant projects or activities which will extend the children’s learning through meaningful experiences so that children can make connections within their environment.
‘Excellent team teaching, combined with an outstanding creative curriculum, contributes significantly both to the children’s obvious enjoyment of Nursery and to their very good achievement. The temporary facilities are used very well by the staff to provide an extremely rich and creative variety of interesting activities. This innovative and creative approach to the curriculum makes learning a constant source of pleasure, excitement and adventure. The interest that is generated encourages the children to concentrate on their activities and to persevere, and this aids their learning.’ (Ofsted 2007)
