The Centre’s provision offers both quality education and care for all children promoting an holistic approach to their development. Young children thrive in an environment where they make positive relationships through interacting with others. They learn in an atmosphere of nurturance and care, where children are respected and listened to and where their emotional well-being is considered a priority. Working with the whole child where learning and care are equally valued enables them to make sense of their lives and establish their individual identity in their community.
The publication in 2003 of the Green Paper (Every Child Matters) was a significant step towards supporting all children better with the coördination of all mainstream services.
The five key areas of Every Child Matters are:
- Strong foundations in the early years
- Strong focus on parenting and families
- Early intervention and effective protection
- Better accountability
- Reform of the workforce
At the centre the focus is on entitlement for children through five main outcomes:
- Being healthy
- Staying safe
- Enjoying and achieving
- Making a positive contribution
- Economic well-being
