Golf

Golf is an integral part of the curriculum at Greenfields. It supports the learning outcomes of the Foundation Stage in all areas which include Communication Language and Literacy, Mathematics, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Creativity, Physical and Personal, Social and Emotional aspects of development. The innovative approach to children’s learning is an outcome of our listening to children culture.

From observing and assessing young children we realised that children in their play were naturally involved in throwing, moving and mapping activities.

Children were very keen and enthusiastic to participate and use the golf equipment. They were very receptive and followed instructions about how to play.

Professional development is considered a priority and practitioners have ongoing training with a coach from the Professional Golf Association. This involves demonstrating and using the clubs correctly. Children use the Tri-Golf kit equipment recommended by the Golf Foundation.

Children use a mini golf course with five holes and a bunker. This provision has enabled the children to understand the basic rules of the game.
