The photographer will be at the Centre on Tuesday 10th May to take photographs of the children. If you would like a family photograph please book an appointment at the admin office.
Children and parents had lots of fun at Curriculum Day. Thank you to all of those who took the time to come along, we hope you found it a useful and informative experience. If you missed out come along to our next one on the 24th June 2016.
Members of the community have had a great time learning how to paint faces. We hope they can use their skills for work or to benefit their communities. If you are interested in attending activities like these follow the link below to have a look through our brochure to see what is coming up.
As the year comes to a close, we wanted to thank Greenfields Children’s Centre so much for donating to Ealing Foodbank in 2015; without your generosity, our important work would simply not be possible.
To give you an idea of the numbers behind our five cafes:
As we currently distribute around 800 kilos of food per week, it is important that we keep our stocks up, so any future donations would be much appreciated. You can keep up with our work at our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/EalingFoodbank
If you have any nursery clothes at home, please return them as soon as possible. If you have any old children’s clothes to donate we would like to hear from you.
So far the weather has been very mild. However, it may start to get cold soon and children still need to be able to explore the outdoor environment so please make sure they have warm clothes and preferably have a hat and gloves, clearly labelled with their names.
Welcome back, we hope you had a good break over the holidays and enjoyed some time with friends and family. We are looking forward to a busy term where the children will learn lots of new things.
Before the half term we will have parent consultation meetings which are an opportunity for you to come and talk to your child’s keyworker about how they are settling in and their progress. Please do not miss this opportunity. However, our doors are always open to parents so if you are worried or concerned about anything come and speak to us anytime.
This term in the under three’s room the children have been participating in Yoga sessions every Friday. The children look forward to these sessions with excitement. “It’s Harpal the Yoga man” shouts one of the children as Harpal the Yoga teacher enters the room.
Yoga is very good exercise and develops children’s awareness of their body and their concentration.
This term the children in the Disraeli room have shown particular interest in ‘Transport.’ We planned the following activities to further develop their interests:
Can you count how many vehicles, you can see in a day?
The children looked fabulous in their pyjamas and had a lovely time. I am sure the money raised will be put to good use and will support children.
We raised £301.63 for Children In Need and families in lots of difficult situations.
The Autumn Term ended with a bang with a very funny entertainer and a special visit from Father Christmas. All of the children really enjoyed themselves.
Our creative raft-building project prompted a range of learning opportunities and discussions about the wider world. Download the full nursery world article below.
"This example of good practice shows how staff at Greenfields Children’s Centre approach teaching, in particular, how a meticulous approach to assessing children to identify any gaps between different groups helps staff to close those gaps quickly. Greenfields Children’s Centre is particularly effective in narrowing the gap between girls and boys, especially in literacy. Staff use a range of innovative and imaginative strategies that are highly effective."
